Song notes:
Another song that the regular followers of Skibbereen requested and also another which Mark wrote, but this time for a commercial idea. Unfortunately, Guinness didn’t take the hint!! It starts and finishes with the “Finnigan’s Wake” tune.
This was a liquid which was often consumed during our shows.
- In moderation of course – to save Jim’s and Mark’s voice!!
- Exception – Liam drank Coke and was very handy as the designated driver.
Song Lyrics:
Guiness McGinty
Mark Bainbridge C 1999
Chorus
Well I’m Guinness McGinty and I’m named for the brew
That me Da loved dearly and me Ma did too
Yes! I’m Guinness McGinty and I wish you great wealth
So let’s raise a glass now and I’ll drink ·to your health
Vs 1
Tis often been said that it flows in my veins
That delectable brew with the distinctive name
When I gets the chance to the Pub I will wander
And sit with a jar and on life I will ponder. · – CH
Vs 2
Now when I has a few, my voice it starts to roar
And I think I can sing better than Christy Moore
And the yarns I will tell, outrageous and funny
But as you all know, they’ll be full of the Blarney!!! – CH
Bridge
So draw, draw, draw that head slow
For in a few minutes down the throat it will go!! – CH
